Shallow water tunnel design. discussion in 'propulsion' started by yk geo, oct 5, 2009. and thanks to baeckmo's diagrams helping cdk debug his boat, have learned a bit about tunnel design, though only for a tunnel with half the prop in the tunnel and half below. design specs for the tunnel to feed water to an outboard jet. 3. design. An sjx jet boat is like no other boat on the market. you can traverse water only 3 inches deep, maneuver and corner with precision and travel through skinny water to locations unknown.. When at higher speeds, a tunnel hull is supported by a 'balanced' combination of aerodynamic lift and drag (mostly from aerofoil formed by upper deck surface and tunnel roof surface) and hydrodynamic lift and drag (mostly from sponsons) and the hull weight distribution..
Design and expanded role for those who get well off the beaten course. the wooldridge xp outboard jet: impressive! 20-foot sedan with 6-foot bottom 20-foot sedan with 6-foot bottom jet tunnel. open boat as tiller or console, or with large two-piece walk-thru windshield.. The builders of this boat have the potential to build the interior out anyway they would like beyond the supplied bench seat design, but the more they add, the heavier the boat gets and that starts to take away the thin water capability of the design.. A jet tunnel doesn’t work well with a flat bottom boat due to air ingestion. it’s imperative that the hull is designed correctly with the tunnel for the boat to operate properly. the tunnel needs to be just large enough to feed the jet drive its water requirements..
